Aloha! How about a tasty tiki for your Saturday?🍹 

This recipe can also be found in the Total Tiki app and probably other of Jeff “Beachbum” Berry’s cocktail books. 📚 

The original drink was created by Ray Buhen of the Tiki-Ti, Los Angeles, circa 1960s. It combines a lots of flavors, but is extremely delicious. The original recipe called for some ingredients I didn’t have, so I made some substitutions. I also chose to vigorously shake with crushed ice instead of flash blending for 5 seconds. This is mostly because 1) I don’t have a flash blender and 2) I hate to get the blender out to do 5 seconds of blending. 

One more note: The drink says to serve in a tall glass, but that better be a hurricane glass or equivalent to fit all these ingredients plus ice and dilution. My tiki mug had plants of room and looked great too! 🤩 

Glass: Tall glass or tiki mug 


1oz / 30ml fresh lime juice 

.75oz 22,5ml orange juice 

.75oz / 22,5ml pineapple juice 

.75oz / 22,5ml SimplyGala Passion Fruit Syrup 

.75oz / 22,5ml honey mix (1:1 honey and hot water) 

.25oz / 7,5ml SimplyGala Falernum

1oz / 30ml light rum  

1oz / 30ml amber virgin islands rum (I used aged rum instead) 

.75oz / 22,5ml dark jamaican rum 

.75oz / 22,5ml 151-proof Lemon Hart Demerara rum (I used just a standard 151 rum) 

1 dash Angostura bitters @angosturahouse 

8 oz (1 cup) crushed ice 


Put everything—except 151 rum—in a shaker and shake until chilled. Pour unstrained into a tall glass or tiki mug. Float 151 rum on top of drink. Garnish with a cocktail cherry speared to pineapple wedge. Serve with a glass straw.
